After reading the article and watching this very great video respond to the following.
1. The article references a lot of history about Pat McGrath, but also talks about makeup application, style. . .A. How was some of this exemplified in the video, B. what applications did you see, C. what inspirations did she discuss, D. explain her use of the word sculpting, how she worked with the designers. . .all this was discussed and presented in the video but also in the article. • The video of Pat McGrath explained a lot about her own way of applying makeup. McGrath explained that she uses her fingers more than brushes while applying makeup since it makes it look more natural by doing so. When she was a kid, she discovered that applying makeup with her fingers worked a lot better than anything else. She has a great passion for her job making it unique, playful and extraordinary.
• She sees the face of a model as a fine piece of art that has to be shown to the world in a unique way. The face of a model is a sculptured that has to be beautiful for people to appreciate. Whenever she is applying makeup to a model she’s working on a fine piece of art. Designers love her because of the way she does everything and her personality she’s a happy person who brings life to the ones around her.
• Pat is able to make models look fresh and with lots of energy, in the video one of the models explains that even though they only slept 3 hours Pat was able to give life to their tired faces. Pat was able to work the models faces to make them look natural even though they had a lot of makeup on. Pat is sure a busy makeup designer who says does nothing when asked what she does while working at Gucci. She is always in the move looking into history for ideas and ways of making her art unique.
A. In the video, we see an application style talked about in the article: Pat using her fingers instead of brushes. This is derived from her past when she didn't own any brushes so she had to use her fingers to apply makeup. Her main style is to make it look as if the model is not wearing any makeup. The beauty she creates is natural, not caked on layers. However, Pat can go to the creative extremes that all designers love and want her for.
B. The applications we saw was the finger technique. She dabs the makeup on with her fingers and smoothes it out to give it that natural appeal that way. She applies gorgeous pops of color, but still doesn't over-do it.
C. Along with her boxes and boxes of supplies, Pat also brings bags of art, photography, history, and fashion books with her for inspiration. She is inspired by color and natural beauty and mimics fabrics given by designers for her makeup color palettes.
D. Pat says that her makeup styling is all about sculpture so you can see the hair, another key element to pull the look together. She blends it all together to give it that natural flair. Pat sincerely takes in what each designer assigns and always gives them exactly what they are looking for. For example, Stella McCartney did a collection with sequins and wanted that reflected in the makeup so Pat did a series of highlights on the faces to adequately compliment the sequins. Designers give her inspirations and she matches them, as well as fabrics that she matches color palettes with.
A. In the video, we see Pat using her fingers to apply the make up to the models, a trick she used at a young age when messing with her mother's makeup. Her mother always encouraged her to be an artist, and the article talks about McGrath traveling with 21 suit cases of makeup, but also history books and pictures for inspiration accordig to what designer she is doing makeup for.
B. Pat uses her fingers for application. She prefers to go for a more natural look on the model and using her fingers creates this.

a. As Pat grew up, she experiments with makeup just like every little girl used to do. She applies her makeup by using her finger tips. It makes her techniques relaxed and fun.
b. As you can see, Pat enjoys a natural look for her models, still giving a pop of color here and there, and as said before, her childhood finger application technique is still used.
c. Just like any artist or designer, inspiration comes from swatches of fabric, and pictures. It helps her figure out the natural colors she wants to use or put together.
d. Pat's intersting style is refreshing and upbeat. By the way the hair is styled on her models, is really makes the makeup stand out and pop. A good quote from the article to describe Pats skills is when Domencio Dolce says, "People never worked like this before. She's not a makeup artist, she's and artist."
